Who this book is for

Read With Me is for adults who already know the Arabic letters and now want to read real words quickly and correctly, without guessing.

You learned the alphabet, but you still read letter by letter

You can name every letter and you know its shapes, but a word like مَكْتُوب takes you ten seconds to sound out. The drills train your eye to see the whole pattern at once.

You speak Arabic at home, but can't read it

You grew up hearing Egyptian, Levantine or Gulf Arabic, so the words feel familiar, yet a menu, a sign or a text message still stops you. You already know the sounds; this book connects them to the page.

You mix up the letters that sound alike to you

صَيْف and سَيْف, قَلْب and كَلْب, عَمَل and أَمَل. Six contrast labs drill these pairs until your ear and your mouth tell them apart.

You're taking classes and need daily reading practice

Every drill has a recording code your teacher can mark, so the book fits around lessons with any tutor. Studying alone works too: the listening pages check your reading for you.

You're moving to or visiting the Arab world

The words come from everyday life: street, floor, reception, reserved, paid, forbidden. The ones you'll meet on signs, buttons, forms and receipts.

You'll get the most from it if

  • you recognise all 28 letters and their joined shapes
  • you know what the short vowel marks are, even if you're slow with them
  • you can give it about 15 minutes a day; at one drill a day you finish in around five weeks

It's not the right book if

  • the letters are still new to you: learn them first, then come back
  • you want to read text without vowel marks: every word here is fully voweled, which is the step before that
  • you want grammar explanations or spoken dialect: this book trains reading only
